Communications (ISO TC 204 WG 16)¶
Domain of interest¶
The purpose of WG16 is to standardize the communication systems used in ITS and to ensure sufficient cybersecurity protections for the communications.
WG16 activities include standards related to:
- Radio Access technologies (e.g. DSRC, Cellular, LoRA and BlueTooth and Optical Communications) for ITS
- IP for ITS
- ITS Station Architecture
- Probe Data including “Moving Data” and “Data Sharing”
- Disaster and Emergency Communications (eCall)
- Communications Security
- Communications Management

Overview ¶
ISO/AWI TS 23708 _Intelligent transport systems — Station unit requirements (ITS-SUR)
Status: Edition 1 (under development)
Abstract: This document defines requirements for ITS station units.
Description:
<!-- The current edition focuses on the cybersecurity requirements within each bounded security managed entity (BSME) within the ITS-SU and includes other related requirements as needed.
A BSME includes an instantiation of an ITS station (ITS-S), which includes a subnetwork layer, a networking and transport layer, a facilities layer, a management entity, a security entity, and optionally an ITS applications entity per the ITS station reference architecture (ISO 21217) and represents an ITS-S node (ISO 21217:2020, §3.47).
